About us
Nestled on the banks of the San Marcos River in central Texas was the ranch home of the Hart family and the birthplace of Hart Ranch Seasoning. The Hart Ranch was a working cattle ranch in the 80’s, hosting live auctions and cattle shows. As a child I remember witnessing the birth of calves, ponies and of course puppies and kittens from our family pets. Although the ranch was primarily used for cattle, we did have the occasional barnyard “pets” including chickens, ducks, pigs and goats. As a child, I loved being surrounded by the wide variety of animals and having the constant companionship from all my “friends.”
We were a small family of four, Momma, Papa, Chico aka “Bob” and me, Missy. Momma was the core of the family, always holding us together when things got rough. Papa, the life of the party, loved his grill and always determined to entertain the crowd. Chico, the oldest child and worst in my opinion (wink, wink,) was gifted in his own way always intentionally breaking things so he could fix them and testing the boundaries of what ranch life would allow. Then there’s me, the baby, the shy one, but Momma made sure I grew up with a sense of adventure and independence.
Our kitchen was similar to what most would call the family room. Most of the time it was the only room cooled in the summertime or heated in the winter. It was only a window unit, but it was powerful. We had a small TV in the kitchen with three channels where Chico and I would watch cartoons in the morning over cereal and the A-Team in the evening while Momma was preparing dinner. Maybe it was the air conditioning bringing us together, but more than likely it was the scent of home cooking, love. It was in this kitchen with it’s cooled air and love wafting through that Momma created Hart Ranch Seasoning. The seasoning that would soon be put on everything, every meal, every snack.
Over the years, this small family of four has whittled down to one……me. It’s now my job to help the memories live on, spread the joys of the Hart Ranch, share the great flavor of Hart Ranch Seasoning and show people what it is to live Hart Ranch Style.
